Dear Parents, Guardians and Students

Welcome to an exciting new year!

7th grade can be a big change for some students and parents/guardians.  As middle school students, 7th graders have more teachers and more responsibility than they did as 6th graders.  Students can sometimes struggle with the new challenges. Please make sure to communicate with your student and his/her teachers when you have concerns so that they can be addressed as early as possible.

For ELA, all Homework will be posted on the class blog, which is linked to my teacher page (Ms Keiken) on the school Website (https://www.armstrong227q.com/).  There will be no late HW accepted unless specifically posted in the details of the assignment.  For lengthy assessments, like essays, students will lose 5 points for each day the work is late.  It is important that students learn the responsibility of deadlines and due dates.

All grade information for the class, as well as all communications, will be posted through PupilPath.  Parents and students should have email addresses linked to PupilPath so that there can be an open path of communication.  The email account linked should be checked regularly and should be used to communicate with me as well. If you need assistance with PupilPath, please contact one of the teachers.

Students may also benefit from having highlighters and post-it notes to use during class.

Every student must be reading independently for 30 minutes a day in order to maintain and grow his/her reading.  Every student must carry independent reading material with him/her every day.  Independent reading will be required during homeroom periods as well as during some ELA periods.  Students being prepared with necessary materials for class is part of the Classwork grade

I look forward to the journey of a great new year!

Sincerely,
Ms Keiken
